Common names: Common yellow woodsorrel, upright yellow-sorrel, lemon clover, sourgrass

Location in Texas: C & E TX; not in Travis Co.

Form: herb; perennial.

Flowers: Mar-Oct (yellow).

Food

Leaves – eaten raw or cooked by the Kiowa (Vestal and Schultes 1939). The leaves were used by the Kiowa on long walks when sweating to chew on to relieve thirst (Vestal and Schultes 1939). The Kiowa name means “salt weed” (Vestal and Schultes 1939).
